Highlights of Harvest Fest 2016. Check out the slideshow!

A beautiful fall day set the stage for a fun-filled Harvest Fest on Saturday, Oct. 15. Hundreds of people paid a visit to Faith Plaza to take advantage of the free games and other activities we had prepared with the help of our friends at Abounding Love Christian Fellowship.

Back by popular demand, kids were able to make caramel apples, jump in the bounce house, crawl through a box maze and take a hay ride through the village. New in 2016 was a slingshot, hoops competition, ducky matching game and more.

Kids lined up to participate in our Jedi Training Camp, which featured volunteers dressed as popular Star Wars characters. Local reptile expert Dean Davis wowed crowds again with his knowledge of North American snakes, turtles, spiders, salamanders and more. The Ravena Fire Department demonstrated how they put out fires and also showed kids how to use a fire extinguisher.

Food was plentiful at Harvest Fest. The Fire Department cooked up hotdogs and hamburgers at the concession stand. We sold cotton candy and hosted a pie bake sale. The VFW made awesome ice cream sundaes.

It was a great day made possible thanks to support from the business community. Some gave a monetary donation or supplied us with a product we needed for one of our activities. Other businesses donated a gift card or merchandise for the raffle. No matter how they contributed, we are so appreciative of the generosity of these local businesses. Thank you!

We also want to thank our volunteers for all the long hours and hard work they put in to making Harvest Fest a success. We couldn’t do it without you!

See you next year for Harvest Fest 2017!
