Helping Harvest is once again making the holidays a little brighter for local families in need. This Thanksgiving, we’ll be distributing 95 bags of holiday groceries filled with everything needed to enjoy a festive meal — including a turkey, side dishes, and seasonal treats.
This year’s effort is a true community collaboration. Our team of volunteers is packing 75 bags by hand, thanks to the generosity of local supporters. A special thank-you goes out to City Church Ravena, which donated 60 gift cards for turkeys, ensuring many families will have a traditional Thanksgiving centerpiece on their tables. Meanwhile, Legacy Church of Delmar is currently collecting cranberry sauce and pies for the giveaway. Thank you, Legacy Church!
We’re also thankful for the Ravena News-Herald’s “Feed Your Mind, Feed a Family” program, which will provide us with approximately 20 meals for local families this year. That program is made possible by the generosity of Ravena Shop N Save, Amrize, Carver Companies, Crossroads Ford, Nolan Energy, and TCI of New York. We’re deeply grateful for their support to feed struggling families in our community.
To round out our goal of 95 meals, we’re currently seeking a sponsor for another 15 turkeys so that every registered family can receive a complete holiday meal. Please email us if you can help!
Families are asked to register in advance for the meals (see link below). They may pick up their Thanksgiving groceries at Helping Harvest on either Thursday, Nov. 20 or Saturday, Nov. 22.
Helping Harvest volunteers will also deliver groceries to homebound neighbors and others within a 10-mile radius who lack transportation, ensuring everyone can share in the holiday spirit.
“Thanksgiving is a time to come together as a community,” said Rebecca Flach, executive director of Hope Full Life Center Inc., the parent organization of Helping Harvest. “We’re so grateful for the donors, volunteers, and partners who make it possible for local families to enjoy a holiday meal with dignity and hope.”
Families can 👉 Register here for Thanksgiving groceries. Or stop by Helping Harvest (2480 US Route 9W, Faith Plaza, Ravena),or call (518) 756-9091.
