Laughter and smiles filled Faith Plaza this past Saturday, Oct. 24 as kids crawled through a box maze, coated caramel apples in sprinkles, rolled around in corn looking for prizes and much more at the 2015 Harvest Fest hosted by Hope Full Life Center and Abounding Love Christian Fellowship.
5K Run for Orphans
The weather was brisk, but that didn’t put a damper on Justice for Orphan’s 5k run that kicked off the day’s festivities at 10 am. The overall winners were Judith Wines and Steven Longden.
Local talent shines at Harvest Fest
World Kanreikai Karate put on an awesome show that included students breaking blocks of wood! Kelly Slingerland and Shane Aldean dressed as characters from Disney’s movie Frozen spent an hour talking with kids and having dozens of photos taken. Dean Davis, Ravena’s own reptile expert, delighted some and terrified others with the tarantula, snakes, frogs and other critters he showed and discussed with the crowd. The Ravena Fire Department wowed the audience by starting a fire and putting it out as they discussed the protective gear fire fighters wear.
Thank you to our sponsors & volunteers
Hope Full Life Center is a small charity with a small budget and we couldn’t pull off Harvest Fest without a lot of support from local businesses. Some donated money or gift cards or merchandise for our raffle. Others gave us free or low-cost services we needed to make the event a reality. All helped us make Harvest Fest a success and we are enormously grateful!
Also critical to the success of the event were our volunteers. We couldn’t have pulled off such a big project without you. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
At least 500 people attended Harvest Fest to enjoy the activities for kids, the demonstrations mentioned above, concessions sold by the Ravena Fire Department and the vendors selling crafts, produce and other items. We’re proud with the outcome of the event and the outpouring of love we hope we showed to our community. We’ll see you next October at the 4th Annual Harvest Fest 2016!
