Today is Veteran's Day and we're pausing to honor the millions of Americans who have served our country with courage and dedication. Alongside our gratitude, it’s important to recognize a quieter struggle that many veterans face when they return home — hunger.
The Reality of Veteran Hunger
Approximately 1 in 9 working-age veterans experiences food insecurity in the United States. — Feeding America
Veterans ages 18–64 are 7.4 percentage points more likely to experience food insecurity than non-veterans of the same age group. — Food Research & Action Center (FRAC)
An estimated 1.2 million low-income veterans rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to help meet their food needs. — Feeding America
These numbers tell a difficult truth: even those who have bravely served often struggle to afford basic necessities once they return to civilian life. Challenges such as unemployment, service-related disabilities, and the high cost of living can make it hard to keep food on the table.
