Solve our #FreezerChallenge on #GivingTuesday

How will you give on #GivingTuesday, Nov. 27, 2018? This international movement that occurs on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving weekend each year raises millions of dollars for charities all over the world. This #GivingTuesday we need your help. Two of our freezers at Helping Harvest died in the last month leaving us short on storage space for our food assistance program Helping Harvest. We don’t have the money to replace them at this time.

Every week we pack our freezers and refrigerators full of salvaged groceries we buy to feed low-income people who depend on us. When we don’t have the space to store foods we have to turn it down – including meats, vegetables and processed goods – foods we know would go home that very week with needy families.

Lacking freezer space this time of year is especially challenging because we often get generous donations of salvaged foods from area grocers during the holidays. With no ability to store the goods, we pass on the opportunity to another charity and the families who depend on us at Helping Harvest go without.

Our freezer needs aren’t fancy. While we’d love to have commercial equipment our small budget just won’t allow for it at this time so we use standard residential chest and upright freezers. We can get what we need for roughly $1,200. Would you please consider donating to us on #GivingTuesday and take our #FreezerChallenge?

Helping Harvest feeds close to 1,000 people annually by giving them access to low-cost groceries – generally at one-half what they would pay at traditional grocers. We help our families stretch their food dollars and ensure they have adequate nutrition.

So how will you give on #GivingTuesday? We’d be blessed by your support of our #FreezerChallenge. To make a secure donation click here.
